President of the United Republic of TanzaniaPRESIDENT OF THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA- H.E. DR. JAKAYA MRISHO KIKWETE

Tanzania is proud to be part of EITI global family and, to be among the countries implementing the EITI principles and values. We are committed to the EITI process because it is aligned with our policy of promoting transparency and accountability in the management and use of our natural resources. It is critical for promoting sustainable development and poverty eradication in the country.

Once again, I would like to reaffirm Tanzania’s commitment to the EITI principles, standards and values.

Chairperson TEITI MSG - Hon. JUDGE MARK BOMANChairperson TEITI MSG - Hon. JUDGE MARK BOMAN

Tanzania believes that by implementing EITI will eventually ripe benefits including an improved investment climate by providing a clear signal to investors and international financial institutions that the government is committed to greater transparency. EITI also assists in strengthening accountability and good governance, as well as promoting greater economic and political stability. This, in turn, can contribute to the prevention of conflict based around the oil, mining and gas sectors. Build collaboration and trust among government companies and civil society on mining (and oil) sector issues in Tanzania. Lastly, the move brings together data on mining (oil and gas) financial flows in one place.

Again, I take this opportunity to express Governments gratitude on cooperation and support EITI is getting from International Board and we anticipate continued cooperation from the board.
